Project Description

Bespoke Shop Conversion

Grays Inn Road Project was a conversion of two commercial spaces into a modern apartment over two floors, ground and first. Gleneast worked with the “Award Winning” Architects “Daykin Marshall Studio” throughout this project creating this totally bespoke apartment with completely hand made joinery throughout, including using some 100 year old oak salvaged from the new owners home farm, re-worked into a seating Pod and storage units.

The shelving and the objects displayed combine with rotating shutters to enliven interaction with the busy street while forming ‘visual noise’ that maintains light and privacy within the apartment. A skylight brightens the basement level master bedroom situated in the quietest space furthest from the street. A pair of adjacent bathrooms enjoy their seclusion in the middle of the plan. Lined completely in dark Moroccan waterproof plaster they offer a calm place of retreat.

Since this project completion in 2012 Gleneast continues to work with Daykin Marshall Studio on numerous bespoke projects throughout London providing a complete construction package to many satisfied clients.
